Good Work, Part 1

What is "good work"? This question is central to my own search for work that gives me a sense of making a contribution in the world. When I joined the Peace Corps almost 25 years ago, my motivation was to give back somehow. I felt that I had received so much from my parents and teachers -- love, knowledge, guidance, wisdom -- and I had this deep sense of wanting to offer something of value to others in return. I still feel that way about work. Am I a weirdo? Well, yes and I accept that. And I also know that there are others out there like me who wonder why we're here and who think that since we are here we might as well make the kindest, wisest use of our time together.
