Good Work, Part 2

From my perspective as a searcher and observer of other searchers, the search for good work is a fascinating combination of a desire to express something good that lies within us and a desire to contribute in some way to our community in a way that feels good. So we are at once givers and receivers of the goodness. Howard Gardner, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, William Damon capture this duality in their definition of good work, which appears in their book Good Work: When Excellence and Ethics Meet: “Something that allows the full expression of what is best in us, something we experience as rewarding and enjoyable.”

Capturing the best in us requires 1) digging around to uncover very clearly what that is, and then 2) generating the courage to step forward and express it. One one hand it's a simple 2-point list, right? And on the other hand, a life's work.
